Putting this book together gave me the chance to meet all these incredible people and to be constantly inspired. The most rewarding and harrowing part was talking to the kids about their past. Hardly knowing me, they were shy and embarrassed. The children often don’t know each other’s stories, so to open up to a stranger and revisit certain traumatic experiences took courage. They did it to help others and give hope, like the amazing kids they are. It was deeply emotional and there were tears.
There were lighter moments and laughter too as they told of fun things from their past, with a love and happiness that was heart warming and contagious.
Little did I expect that one of the people to benefit would be my own grown ‘child’, as he had no interest in either India or Sai Baba. But my son, Will (read in Teachers' Stories), became deeply involved with CPT - came, saw and was conquered, spending a year working with the children and loving it.
CPT has been a healing force for me too. The next book, about the further development of the Project is currently in the works.
Life is full of miracles.
